About Glendale

glendale-logoWhere does a close-knit Milwaukee community, brimming with Midwestern hospitality and vibrant Jewish values, live? Why, Glendale, of course!

Glendale, adjacent to two crowning jewels of the Milwaukee County Park System, is a suburban neighborhood with a population of 14,000 in a metropolitan county of over 1.2 million. When it comes to location, our neighborhood doesn’t get any better. We love being just three minutes from Interstate Highway 43; five minutes from Hillel Academy and the JCC; ten minutes from the Kosher Meat Club grocery; and 20 minutes from the airport. We have a mikvah within walking distance and three other lovely mikva’ot within a ten minute drive.

This 1.4 million square foot complex features over 120 retail shops and boutiques, a two-story Barnes and Noble, Trader Joe's and a town square that hosts farmers’ markets, movie festivals and an outdoor sprinkler park for kids in the summer. Downtown Milwaukee, with its world-renowned museums, scenic River Walk, business center and lively nightlife, is a short drive and the hub of what’s happening in the city.

A Scenic, Affordable and Safe Neighborhood Glendale is a quiet, family-centered neighborhood that has a wide variety of affordable homes. Replete with single-family houses which generally fall between $160,000 to $375,000, these include spacious executive lots on riverfront property to lovely sizable homes with beautiful front and backyards. Condominiums and assisted living facilities are also available. Did we also mention that the cost of living in Glendale is 12 % below the national average?

Theres So Much to Do Year Round

kletzsch 001Nestled along the banks of the Milwaukee River, our neighborhood is a luscious, verdant green in the summer and a breathtakingly simple, pure and glorious white in the winter. We enjoy an array of outdoor opportunities every season, allowing us to leave the bustle of every day behind as we relish Glendale’s pastoral beauty.

winterinwisconsinIn the winter, we take the kids sledding and rent cross-country skis at Kletzch Park. In the spring we play golf at Brown Deer Park and jog along Lake Drive. In the summer we picnic at the outdoor concerts on Milwaukee River Parkway or bike along Oak Leaf Trail. In the fall we walk through the colorful mounds of autumn leaves at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, a 185-acre stretch of untouched land along the shore of Lake Michigan, or pick over 20 types of apples for Rosh Hashana at Barthel’s Fruit Farm. And when we don’t feel like doing anything at all, we cozy up on a tucked-away bench and watch the sun set on the restored prairie at Parkway Elementary School, just a few blocks from the shul.

Come and See for Yourself

Whether we’ve lived in Glendale for one year, five years, or our whole life, we’ve come to appreciate our neighborhood as the perfect backdrop for a meaningful, rich life. On our lovely walks to shul each Shabbat, we fall in love with Milwaukee again and again. We hope you will visit so you can fall in love, too.
