Sabbath Kiddush, the communal gathering that follows the Sabbath morning prayers, is a traditional opportunity to mark joyous events and life cycle occasions within the community. The Kiddush is an important part of our community's character. It generates closeness, allows people to get to know each other, and it integrates new members into the community quickly.
At the conclusion of Sabbath morning prayers, the congregation gathers to say the blessing over the wine ("Kiddush"). The week's Sponsor has an opportunity to speak about the event for which they are sponsoring the Kiddush, and is welcome to say a few words about the Torah portion of that week, an upcoming Jewish holiday, or another Jewish topic.
ASKT has a weekly Kiddush immediately following Shacharit.
If you would like to sponsor a Kiddush in honor of a birthday, anniversary, or a special event such as a baby naming, graduation, or just another opportunity to give thanks in the company of family and friends or in memory of a loved one's yahrtzeit.
A typical Kiddush at ASKT is approximately 80-100 people, plus friends or family whom you would like to invite to join us. Kiddush refreshments for the basic Kiddush for 100 people are $300.00. You have the freedom to make your Kiddush as elaborate you wish, of course, and can augment the suggestions.
